April 8, 2024 Toccoa tailwaters are fishing great with using  Midge Parachute #20s are coming off, Rainbows Browns are being caught.....! Nymphing with #18 BH Hares ear and Olive flash BH Wooly bugger #6 and 8# are producing some real nice Rainbows in the fast water, slow stripping of streamers will pick you up some nice fish. The fishing has been real good on the river thus far, flies of choice for the early morning hours are midges or Trico's sizes #18,22’  Lower Toccoa around Mckaysville Horseshoe bend Park is fishing slow as of now Fishing from the first curve to the train trestle bridge is a good bet for some fish.

Upper Toccoa River DH (is now clear )  (  ) Trout are being caught on #16,18 BH copper johns, # 18 PRINCE BH

#8 Cone head olive flash wooly bugger fishing has been good!

Please use a wadding Staff!   Caddis flies are starting to come off good fishing on most of the DH....  Tight Lines!

 

 

Mtn. streams  #18 Caddis flies are producing fish. The Coleman River, Noontootla, Wildcat and Moccasin creek are wonderful streams to fish for wild trout, abundance of wild rainbows plus a few Browns. This is a artificial stream only!  Water is crystal clear, Catch & Release !

 

Mtn. streams are clear..!  Black Ant Parachute #18 are producing trout!  Nymphs  BH Black rubber legged stone fly and a copper John #18 will work great!  Double rigs with a  #12 black stone flie BH and a BH  #18 pheasant tail will also catch you trout!

Chestatee River    

 

This is a Trophy river, bugs of choice in the early morning hours are BH Black rubber legged stone flie sizes #6,8 with BH Olive flash buggers, also Mr.Copper and  the de Silver streamers are catching fish. Leader of 3,4 x must be used on this river do to the large size of these trout. This is a Catch & Release zone! These are some great fighting fish, a few monster Browns are present as well as Kamloop Rainbows. Water temps are holding around 50 degrees. The River is  clear and fishing has been good!  Get out their and wet a line!

The Chestatee and Frog Hollow Waters are clear! Using 3x or 4x leaders is a must on these trophy creeks. BH Rubber legged stone flies Prince Nymphs, BH Olive wooly buggers will hook you up a fish.  Tight Lines!  Stream is clear! Lets go fishing!

Etowah River

If your using a 6,7 or 8 wt. fly rod use large white Zonkers, deSilver or Diggers Golden Boy size 6,8 with a sink line will produce you some nice fish. Top water action with white & blue Buggle bugs are catching Large Spotted Bass! Throwing  Buzz baits early in the day then switch to  soft baits in the later parts of the day, crank baits are catching Spotted Bass but also try zoom Swimmin fluke jr. ( white ice) and Culprit Motor oil shad worm 7 1/2 - The Bass are slamming these soft baits!  Hybrids are being caught near the mouths of the creeks feeding the main body!

 

Natural Brown Hot Tiger XL Lure from Bass Pro is also a Dang good crank baits for Spotted Bass as well as the Black/white shallow runner shad.  Work the timbers hard and you should pull out some nice fish! Stripers seem to be hiding in the deep water just off the tail outs!

River is  muddy at this time!

 

 

Spotted Bass, Large Mouth, Coosa Redeye Bass, White Bass, Stripers, Sturgens, Drum, Gar, Crappie

Shell Cracker. The Etowah River has a big diversity of

fish in its waters! Line choice is crucial for these waters!
